What is ELDOA?
ELDOA (Etirements Longitudinuax avec Decoaptation Osteo-Articulaire) is a French acronym, that, when translated to English stands for LOADS (Longitudinal Osteo-Articular Decoaptation Stretches). These exercises were developed by French Osteopath, Dr. Guy VOYER, over thirty-five years ago as he worked to provide solutions for the back pain epidemic in France at the time. The ELDOA exercises use the fascia to create tension in the body at a specific joint with the goal of creating space and decompression at the targeted articulation. What initially started as exercises for the spine has continued to expand and develop into ELDOA exercises that target the hips, shoulders, and SI joint.
In addition to decompression at specific joints, there are many other benefits of ELDOA exercises. Some of these benefits include:
Improved joint mechanics
Increased blood flow
Reduced pressure on discs
Rehydrated spinal discs
Improved posture
Decreased pain
Increased sense of wellbeing and awareness
Improved recovery time for athletics and training
ELDOA exercises are not just for individuals with back pain - they are for everyone! Professional teams in the NFL, NHL, and NBA, as well as the military and collegiate athletic programs have started to utilize these techniques to aid in recovery and performance enhancement for their athletes. Whether you are looking to operate at an elite level or just want to feel and move better, ELDOA is for you.
